After the sessionV

Aftercare

The tattoo artist’s work stops at the end of the session; yours starts there. Here is the studio’s protocol, step by step.

  1. The same day

    • Wait at least two hours after the session before removing the dressing.
    • Wash the tattoo with your palm, with clean hands, using lukewarm water and a mild pH-neutral soap. Dry by patting with a clean cotton towel.
    • Apply the balm recommended during the session, massaging until it is absorbed: it is the massage that carries the product down into the skin.
    • Leave the tattoo uncovered unless told otherwise, and sleep in clean cotton sheets.
  2. The following ten to fifteen days

    • Wash the tattoo twice a day, morning and evening, with a mild pH-neutral soap, then pat dry.
    • Apply the balm three to five times a day, working it in well.
    • Wear loose cotton clothing. No synthetic fabric on the area.
    • After fifteen days, replace the balm with daily moisturizing with vegetable oil.
  3. What is not negotiable

A fresh tattoo is an open wound. Every line below is there to prevent an infection or a loss of ink.

    • Only touch your tattoo with clean hands.
    • Do not pull off the dead skin: it falls off on its own.
    • While it heals: no sun, no swimming pool, no sauna or hammam, no sport.
    • Avoid sweating and knocks on the area.
    • The tattoo must never dry out: skin that feels tight forms scabs.
    • Once healed, total sunblock on the area. UV rays fade the ink and damage the skin that carries it.
  4. The follow-up

    • One month after the session, come back to the studio or send a sharp photo so the healing can be checked.
    • Touch-ups are included in the price for three months.
