Thor has been tattooing since 2014. Over the years, he has narrowed his work down to a single technique: engraving. He keeps its construction: everything happens in the line, its direction and its spacing. He throws out its codes, the medieval and the classical imagery that usually come with it.

On skin, that makes pieces without fill. The volume of a helm, the muscle of a heart, the scales of a fish: everything is modeled by the density of the hatching. It is slow work to draw, and quick to read.

The wheel
A skeleton caught in a wooden wheel. The grain of the wood and the bones are rendered with the same line, with no solid fill and no gray: only the density of the hatching separates the two materials.

The demoness mask of Noh theater, redrawn as an engraving rather than in the usual Japanese line. The horns and the hair keep the long line, the jaw switches to tight hatching.
